Stagecoach?!

I just read where the Stagecoach had a fire last night.

Does anyone have any more info on this? How badly is it damaged? Can the building be saved and what businesses were affected??

I know Camille's Cafe sustained significant damage, as the firefighters went into that floor last and heavily sprayed it down.  So it probably sustained both fire and water damage.  There was no business to the right of Camille's as that portion of the building was for rent.  I know that the apartment(s) above are pretty much gut jobs as we watched firefighters break through windows with axes and chainsaw portionhs of the roof off. 

I'd say the building is significantly damaged, but there may be some hope of saving it.  It depnds on how badly/how much money Medford is willing to spend. 

It was pretty scary especially because the apartment tenant above was not around and left us wondering if they were in the building as it went up in flames.

I stand corrected...the 2nd floor was not an apartment, but a business selling surety bonds. I just hope they can somehow manage to save the building...who knows.

Lisa's business was the second floor. which took the heaviest damage, but she doesn't own the building anymore. I believe building owners were in the 3rd floor, but I'm not positive, they have a relatively low profile. The business to the left of the cafe, Simply Chic, was said to have only smoke/heat/water damage but no direct fire damage.

Either way, with a building that old, the firefighters did a fantastic job. I hope the owners decide to rebuild and keep the external historical charm at least.

I hope they do rebuild.  Honestly, it was a scary scene.  I, along with others, did not know if there were apartments up there.  Seeing a place go up in flames in those circumstances scares the crap out of people.

I thought I'd only ever see that in movies.  It's very different close up.  Btw, I'm mad the central record did not mention my name...as I'm the person who called it in at 1:06/1:07am.  Hahah...jk.  Jus glad to try and save one of the most historic buildings in Medford.

That building is a fire trap. I doubt it meets modern codes, but maybe the building officials were scared of the council members who owned the place.

Has anyone tallied the number of restaurant fires in Medford that are on Sunday nights after midnight???  Settlers Inn, Lucky 7, was Stagecoach a Sunday as well?  I find it very disconcerting how many fires in this area are total losses.  And, how many just 'happen' when business tanks........no accusation, just comment.
