Wow.  I grew up in Medford in the 1970's and 1980's and never encountered a black or hispanic person until I left for college.  We were so sheltered in Medford.  Sad to see that those racist roots are still in existence.  I am so glad I moved away to raise my children.  They are part of a very diversified community and have had almost no encounters with racism.  They are learning tolerance and more importantly they don't see people as black, white, yellow or any other color.  They see people..period.  Medford will always be home for me, but sad to see that the kids there are still not learning about the real world.

I agree.....I as well moved away and particularly for that reason...I longed for diversity...that's why we live in America right? It's the only place you can encounter a melting pot of people.

I hate when people cry racism when someone brings up the illegal immigrant problem .  Its a problem everywhere , not just in Medford.  Like someone else said don't turn a blind eye to this situation. This is our neighborhood and we should care who lives in it .  The illegals should be rounded up and sent back to wherever they are from.   If they want to live in this county they should follow proper procedure and the laws like other immigrants moving here.  A teacher was just killed on rt 70 by an illegal who should not have even been here.  If it was your mother or daughter who was killed you would think differently.   Also for the people who want diversity .  I moved to Medford from Philadelphia a few years ago.   The reason I moved to Medford was to raise my little girl in a clean cut safe neighborhood with good schools.   You people that want diversity , just move to the city where I used to live.  Diversity is nice until everything you own is stolen or broken into .  In my last 3 years living in philly my car was broken into 18 times .  My house was broken into 3 times. My daughters bike was stolen 5 times. 2 people I know were shot in a robbery and one was killed over 10.00$ .

PS .  I'm so tired of hearing people say they encounter racism.  Treat people the way you want to be treated . If anything I think there is more reverse racism these days than anything else.   The media puts their own twist on everything and brain washes the masses .  Form your own opinion from life experiences and stop living in the past .

I guess if you live in one of the high priced developements in this town, you don't see Mexicans unless you go into town. It must be unnerving for you. I have lived here for almost twenty years. Before all the new developement came. I find you people more annoying than the illegals I drive by when passing through town or down Mill Street. Medford has changed, yes, but it's not the immigrants who are the problem.
