Each week, a free advertising "newspaper" is deposited in my drive or the street in front of my drive, whether I am home or not. If I am not, it is great advertisement of that fact. I can stop mail delivery if I am on vacation, but not these deliveries.
I was told a few years ago, Medford does not have any laws or regulations on this type of advertising. It is time Medford did.
I have no way to "opt-out". I should be able to do so.
A permit should be required to do this type of advertising; an opt-out email address should be required on the front page of each publication, with explanation of its use, in minimum of 10 point arial font. Permit cost could be $1.00 (or more) per household per year, so the township can cover all related cost. Fine for failure to stop delivery after notice: $500.00 per household per publication (each week being a separate publication) delivered, to cover township or homeowner cost in enforcement. Either should be able to enforce the law.
This is similar to the Do Not Call law.
